Mustang Mach-E Rally testing

The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally SUV features a 1-inch lift and RallyCross-tuned shocks and springs, enabling it to handle rough terrain. It boasts 19-inch gloss-white wheels with Michelin CrossClimate2 tires for traction on loose surfaces, and underbody shielding for protection. The SUV's aggressive styling is enhanced with contrasting accents, a front splitter, rear spoiler, black painted steel roof, and built-in rally-inspired fog lights. Ford engineers, Chris Berchin and Jay Kistler, put the Mach-E Rally through rigorous testing at Ford's Michigan Proving Grounds. This included a new 500-mile torture test to simulate 10 years of rallycross racing. The team designed a rallycross course on-site, ensuring it mimicked real-world conditions. They used computer-aided engineering to map out the course, and sensors to collect data, validating the course's authenticity. This meticulous testing earned them a Vehicle Engineering Validation award from Ford. The modifications to the Mustang Mach-E include a powertrain calibration, traction control, and MagneRide suspension tuned for rallycross. The raised suspension and Ford’s RallySport drive mode enhance performance on dirt tracks. This mode allows for more control and aggressive handling. What began as a concept over two years ago is now ready for customers, poised to make an impact on dirt tracks. Do you like it?
