Dacia Bigster 4x4 - Off-Road Test

Dacia Bigster hybrid-G 150 4x4 combines hybrid technology, an LPG flex-fuel system and all-wheel drive, it is a world first. This 4x4 LPG flex-fuel hybrid is efficient, versatile and frugal. Combining a 103 kW (140 hp) 1.2-litre 48V mild-hybrid engine at the front with an electric motor at the rear peaking at 23 kW (31 hp), it delivers maximum output of 113 kW (154 hp), with torque of 230 Nm for the combustion engine and up to 87 Nm for the electric located on the rear axle. The internal combustion engine is mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with steering-wheel paddles, and the electric motor to a two-speed gearbox, with a disengageable rear axle. The main advantage of the two-speed gearbox with the rear-mounted electric motor is to deliver high torque to the wheels at low speeds in first gear, and to slow the electric motor at high speeds while maintaining  strong traction at the rear at up to 140 km/h. Neutral mode (clutch disengaged) eliminates friction loss on the road for lower fuel consumption in 2WD mode. This is a world first for an electric motor using 48V technology. The dual-clutch gearbox can also be controlled with steering-wheel paddles. This feature is particularly useful in off-roading, towing, mountain driving and other specific situations. With its two 50-litre fuel tanks, one for petrol and one for LPG, Duster guarantees a range of up to 1,500 km (WLTP cycle) without refuelling. Do you like it?
